The question should be: "How do I wade through all the internet
real estate sites to find the right home for me?" Information about most
homes for sale can be found on the internet. As with most Internet
searches, having a little organization to the resulting data would be nice. There are literally hundreds, if
not thousands, of internet sites that offer access to information on
homes for sale. They are hosted by regional newspapers, local and national
real estate agencies, mortgage firms and real estate focused
internet portals whose primary motivation is site-based
advertising. Most allow you to search by town, price and a few
parameters such as number of bedrooms and baths. Most are getting
the bulk of their information ultimately from the Massachusetts
multiple listing service:
MLSPIN. Few, if any, provide you with all the data and all the
pictures on the home actually stored by MLSPIN, and like the printed
real estate books you find everywhere, the status of the listing may
be outdated. The house may already be under agreement or withdrawn
from sale. Frustrating! There is a better way, however.
Here in
Massachusetts, you have an opportunity to search more effectively
than many other regions of the country. Your

can subscribe you to a service of MLSPIN
which establishes a continuous search based on parameters you select. So in addition to price, number of rooms and
location, you may search on year built, type of siding, street name
and many more factors important to you. The homes meeting your
criteria are added to your private list which you may access from any
internet enabled computer. The system then sends you an e-mail each
day that a new home is added to your list or when the price changes
on any home currently on your list. Better yet, as homes are entered into
the system by their listing agent, you will see them on your list
almost instantaneously. All you have to do is log into your private
site regularly to stay abreast of what is happening. Best of all, when you click on a listed home you get all the data on the
home and all its pictures. With agreement of your Realtor®,
you can also get the home's address and days on market.
